Tin Man - Keys of Life Acid
Tin Man a.k.a. Johannes Auvinen is of Finnish descent, having lived all his life in Los Angeles. Tin Man says his tracks relate to the history and mood of acid house, calling them just "simple dance songs, with an emphasis on the bassline slowly changing". Not only that, Tin Man updates the sound of 80s Chicago acid sound to the 21st century with some tracks that might have felt at home on Warp Records' legendary Artificial Intelligence series of the early-to-mid-90s -- which spawned the genre now known as IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) -- perhaps bringing on some memories of Richie "Plastikman" Hawtin's FUSE project there. Maybe one can also find in Tin Man's sound some comparisons to such as Laurent Garnier’s and Ludovic Navarre’s acid projects: Choice, Shazz, Deepside. Tin Man's "Keys of Life Acid" 12" (life12in-16) includes three tracks. 'Life Is Acid' is a late-night excursion where 303 lines slowly surface with a quiet insistence. 'Tip The Acid' offers a bubbling acid march with spiralling ornaments of sound layer upon layer. 'Drifters Acid' features a vertigo-inducing acid waltz, 303 spinning its stealthy web like an electromechanic spider, finally giving way to a sound of stylus stuck in the groove.
